It's been a while since I last posted on here but just thought I'd put a lil one out to say that I'm working on my knitting (oh it sounds soooo sad lol) and I think i'll be having a go at this new Yarn Bombing movement pretty soon!!!

I'll keep the updates coming :)

February Artwork

Here's some of the pieces I've set my hand to recently. I've been getting back to the 3D work and playing around with vinyl figures.

This little guy is a slight variant on my earlier Wax Dunny's. Rather then using a white based colour I have gone with a 'Baby Pink' hue to girlie it up a bit. He has been commissioned as a birthday present and will soon be going off to his new life lol.

Droid is his name and he is based on the well know Google Android symbol. The base figure has been created by the fantastic Andrew Bell and I have taken this figure and added my own colourful, waxy touch to it.

Here is my follow on Dunny from 'Mr Paper'. I have collaged the entire of the figure this time rather then leaving the ears and arms blank. I really love the effect that this creates and I want to explore it further, perhaps by using different types of paper or even trying a rainbow effect; made up of little pieces of different coloured paper blending and going down the body from ears to feet.

Beetroot Tree Exhibition 2011

Sadly that time of year has come and (almost) gone again. I have had a couple of pieces up at the Erewash Open Art Exhibition held at The Beetroot Tree Gallery and a big thank you to all those that went to see the show! There is one day left and then its all over until next year.

As promised here are some pictures of the work I submitted, I went for a variety of different pieces to show my range and also because I feel its more fun then putting in three paintings that are pretty much the same. Enjoy!

Sorry if the photo's are a little blurry, my camera is on the fritz! Aaarrgggg!

Open Art Exhibition 2011

Well the time of year has come again for the Erewash Open Arts Exhibition at the Beetroot Tree Gallery in Draycott. This will be my second year entering and I'm sure the show is as fantastic as last year.

As you can see the gallery is open everyday from 10am-5pm and it costs you nothing, which is even better!

The exhibition is running from the Saturday 29th January - Sunday 13th February with the Private View being held 5:30-7:30pm on the 29th. The address is south Street, Draycott, Derby, DE72 3PA and there is ample on street parking.

I've got a small selection of work on display and I've decided not to sell through the gallery on this occasion but please be assured that all pieces are for sale if you contact me personally and I also do commissions if you see a piece that you like that is has already been sold or if you want it in a different colour etc.

Hopefully see you there!

Yarn Bombing!!!!!!

I have just discovered (with a lil help) the amazing world of Yarn Bombing!

Yes it sounds like a cross between the faithful pastime of Grandmas the world over and warfare, and to be honest that's not far from the truth.

Yarn bombing, or Knit Graffiti as it is also known, started as an underground movement in America and has been spreading like wildfire around the globe ever since.
Unlike normal Graffiti it is cheap, cheerful, non-destructive to property and is less likely to get you in trouble with the Police.

The idea behind it is 'donating' your artwork to the urban environment and the public. These little (and not so little) bits of knitting or crochet are designed to brighten up the dull, grey landscape that are our towns and cities.

The pictures are all examples of this new low-brow art craze that's hitting a large percentage of the worlds population, you don't need to be male or female, old or young to have a go. That's the beauty of it!

You can look it up on Google or Wiki or for more info go to: http://yarnbombing.com/

And keep checking this space because as soon as I've re learnt how to knit I'm going to be out there showing my work off and putting plenty of photos on here as well.

Beetroot Tree Exhibition 2010

I had completely forgotten about putting these piccys up last year after I was in a local gallery's Open Art Exhibition!

So here they are, my three entries into the exhibition that is held every year at The Beetroot Tree Gallery, Draycott, Derby.

The reason I remembered to put these photo's up is that I'm (hopefully) putting a piece of work or two into the exhibition again this year.

Its starts Sat 29th Jan and runs until 13th Feb. There's no charge to go see it and there is always a fantastic variety of art and talent on display.

A Stitch in Time....

I've not had a great deal of time over the past few months to do a great deal of artwork since I started a proper full time job, bit of a 'cop-out' I know, hence the blank months of no Blogs.

But I was looking through a load of old sketchbooks from my final year of Uni the other week and came across a load of work that I havent looked at since I graduated.

We're always being bombared with the message; "Recycle, Reuse, Reduce" by the media so I thought why not? I'll reuse some of my old work to make new work and ta-da...
